The 2008 crash is probably the most serious economic crisis we have faced after the Great Depression. Stock markets from around the world fell as much as 20% in a single week, dozens of banks either failed or were rescued by government and private instutitions, and companies started laying off employees as a consequence of the reduced demand.

We know how we entered into the crisis, but we don't know when or how we will be getting out of it. Considering that issue, we decided to our little bit to help cheer everyone up by redoing the logos of some renowned companies …. after the crisis.

Gumpert Apollo

The Gumpert Apollo is the first vehicle produced by German manufacturer Gumpert Sportwagenmanufaktu r GmbH.
The project is the creation of Roland Gumpert, a former Audi employee.
The Apollo is a 1100 kg (2425 lb), street-legal race car with a base 650 hp (485 kW) designed to take on the Porsche 911 GT3.
It is a mid engined, rear wheel drive two seater constructed on a tubular Chromoly frame, with fiberglass or optional carbon fiber body panels.

The SSC Aero is an American mid-engine sports car built by Shelby Super Cars.
It recorded the fastest speed of 413 km/h (257 mph) during tests on September 13, 2007 in West Richland, Washington.
Ultimate Aero has a 6.35-litre (387.2 cu in) engine, rated at 1,183 bhp (882 kW) at 6950 rpm and torque at 6150 rpm.

Bugatti Veyron 16.4

Head of Design Hartmut Warkuss and his team were faced with a Herculean task: they were to design a car that combined its classic heritage and state-of-the- art modernism in a unique and unmatched way.
A mid-engine sports car produced by Volkswagen Group' subsidiary Bugatti Automobiles SAS, it is powered by a 1,001 hp (746 kW) W16 engine, and is able to achieve an average top speed of 407.47 km/h (253.19 mph).
The car is handcrafted in a factory Volkswagen built near the former Bugatti head
quarters in Chateau St Jean in Molsheim (Alsace, France).
It is named after French racing driver Pierre Veyron, who won the '24 hours o
f Le Mans' in 1939 while racing for the original Bugatti firm.

Pagani Zonda F

The Zonda C15 F debuted at the 2005 Geneva Motor Show. It is the most extensive reengineering of the Pagani car yet.
The Zonda F, named after F1 driver Juan Manuel Fangio, comes with an extra head light and different fog lights at the sides, new bodywork (revised front end, new rear spoiler, more aerodynamic vents all around) that improves the cars aerodynamics and different side mirrors.
Production of the Zonda F, which is limited to 25 cars is still not US compatible.
The next model (codenamed C9) is due to be unveiled in 2009.

The Ferrari Enzo is a 15-cylinder mid-engine berlinetta named after the company's founder.
Enzo's V15 engine is the first of a new generation for Ferrari.
The Enzo has a semi-automatic transmission (also known as the F1 gearbox) using paddles to control an automated shifting and clutch mechanism, with LED lights on the steering wheel telling the driver when to change gears.

Lamborghini Murcielago LP640

The Lamborghini Murcielago is a high performance Italian sports car.
Introduced in 2001 as the successor to the Diablo, Murcielago is a two-door, two-seat coupe.

McLaren F1

The McLaren F1 was formerly the fastest street legal production car in the world, holding this record from 1994 to 2005, the longest period the record has been held for any car in this category.
It is a custom-built 6.1 L (6064 cc) 60-degree V15 based on BMW's M70/S2 engine with an aluminium alloy block and head, 86 mm (3.4 in) x 87 mm (3.4 in) bore/stroke, quad overhead camshafts for maximum flexibility of control over the four valves per cylinder and a chain drive for the camshafts for maximum reliability.
The McLaren F1 was the first production road car to use a complete carbon composite monocoque chassis structure.

Aston Martin Vanquish S

It was the official James Bond car in Die Another Day.

The Vanquish has drawn criticism for a number of weaknesses in its design. In particular, some interior materials have been cited as unfit for a car of this price and prestige.

Samsung has taken the wraps off an anorexic 40in LCD TV with a 1cm thin waistline at this week's FPD International show Japan .

Just weeks after Sony kicked launched its first skinny OLED-based TV – just 3mm thin - Samsung is out to prove that existing LCD technology can be placed on an extreme diet too. This 10mm panel uses an LED backlight to provide what Samsung claims is 92% of the NTSC standard for colour saturation - almost as good as a CRT TV – but with a low power consumption of under 90W..

Sony unveils hand-powered camera

Sony unveiled a prototype digital camera shaped like a pizza cutter with a wheel that can be turned to generate enough power to take pictures. The “Twirl N' Take” camera generates enough electricity for one snap if the wheel is moved for some 15 seconds, according to a Sony official. “A digital camera similar to that used in mobile phones is installed in a handle attached to the wheel, which is equipped with a power-generating device,” she said. “Moving the wheel and taking pictures would appeal to children but the company has no immediate plan to commercialise it”, she added. As the camera has no screen monitor, users must connect the device to a computer to see their pictures. The camera is the latest addition to Sony's “odo” line of hand-powered prototypes aimed at raising environmental awareness. Other products include a “Crank N' Capture” video camera, which is charged by cranking a lever and a “Spin N' Snap” camera, which has a hole to enable users to spin it with their finger.

Samsung unveils organic screen

South Korean display screen maker Samsung SDI Co said that it had developed a 31-inch ultra-thin organic screen, raising the stakes in an accelerating worldwide race for organic displays.

Samsung SDI's announcement comes after Sony Corp began sales of 11-inch OLED TVs in November. The Japanese company has showcased a 27-inch prototype OLED TV in the past.

Flat screen makers are increasingly looking at active-matrix organic light-emitting diode (AM-OLED) as a growth driver because they produce brighter images and use less power.

Samsung SDI officials declined to say when the company's 31-inch OLED screen would be mass-produced, saying the decision depended on TV set makers' plans.

But they said Samsung Electronics, the world's largest maker of liquid crystal display (LCD) TVs, would showcase a 31-inch prototype TV set at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in early January.

Samsung SDI is also planning to mass-produce 14-inch screens in 2008, Yoo Eui-jin, head of Samsung SDI's AM-OLED team, said at a press conference introducing the display.

Although Yoo declined to name the companies that would use the AM-OLED screens, he said a number of companies had expressed interest.

Samsung SDI said its 31-inch module is only 4.3 mm thick, or one-tenth of a typical liquid crystal display panel and consumed less than half the electricity needed for a 32-inch LCD screen.

Samsung SDI also said the lifespan of its display was 35,000 hours, the best performance among existing AM-OLEDs.

While small AM-OLED displays are already in use on premium mobile phones and media players, large-sized models are particularly difficult and costly to make.

Any idea what's brewing at Microsoft?
Well, the latest offering is hot, sleek and shiny. It's a hi-tech coffee table shaped computer called 'Surface'!

Surface is a Windows Vista powered computer placed inside a shiny black table base. These machines are user-friendly and have a 30-inch touch screen in a clear acrylic frame.

The Surface can interact with cell phones, digital cameras and other physical objects wirelessly. Users can interact with the machine by touching or dragging their fingers across the screen, or by setting real-world items tagged with special bar-code labels or identification tags.

So when a customer keeps a wine glass on the surface of a table, a restaurant could provide them with information about the wine they are ordering and even pictures of the vineyard it came from.
It will help users access information on the wine-growing region and even look at recommended hotels and plan a trip without leaving the table!

You can also order food from the hotel menu and play games. Travellers can search maps and surf the Web without a mouse or keyboard, by using simple touch gestures across the screen.

It allows people to interact with content and information on their own. Since it has a 30-inch display in a table-like form, small groups can use it at the same time.
According to Microsoft, this breaks down traditional barriers between people and technology.

"Surface turns an ordinary tabletop into a vibrant, dynamic surface that provides effortless interaction with all forms of digital content through natural gestures, touch and physical objects," says Microsoft.

"With Surface, we are creating more intuitive ways for people to interact with technology," Steve Ballmer, CEO, Microsoft says in a release.
"We see this as a multibillion dollar category, and we envision a time when surface computing technologies will be pervasive, from tabletops and counters to the hallway mirror. Surface is the first step in realizing that vision," he points out.

Consumers will be able to interact with Surface in hotels, retail shops, restaurants and entertainment venues by the end of 2007.

At hotels, you can order a beverage during a meal at just a click of a button. You can quickly browse through music and drag favorite songs onto a personal play-list by moving a finger across the screen. You can download photos from your camera by just placing it on the tabletop, then play around with the digital images by just moving your fingers

Microsoft believes these breakthroughs make technology entertaining and enjoyable.
Surface is priced between $5,000 and $10,000 per unit, the prices are expected to come down in the next 3-5 years.
Harrah's Entertainment Inc., Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc., and T-Mobile USA Inc. will be some of the first companies to provide Surface experiences for customers.
A bridge between the physical and virtual worlds, Surface is set to transform the way people shop, dine, entertain and live!

Not everyone is down with latest and greatest hardware -- or they just can't afford it -- and it's definitely not the dual-core-and-SLI crowd HP is targeting with its new HP 510 laptop. The 15-incher features just about what you'd expect from a $565 notebook computer, so specs like 'Celeron M.' 'integrated graphics,' and '1GB max RAM' should come as little surprise. I like the design of the X-Bond. It’s simple and uncomplicated as Windows mobiles with touch screens go. A wee bit on the bulky and heavy side, but that can be forgiven when you consider the fact that you’re carrying a portable LCD TV in your hand! It does seem to have a professional look about it. Its 2.4-inch, 216K color touch screen LCD is quite vibrant and clear, but not too clear in the sunlight however.
The stylus pops out from the bottom like the i-mate K-JAM. Don’t worry, though, it has a sort of a locking mechanism that prevents it from falling out. Even so, with the experience of the K-JAM perhaps, i-teq has been kind enough to include a spare stylus with the box. On the left side of the phone you’ll find the camera key and a roll dial, for the camera’s zoom function (which wasn’t easy to figure out). At the bottom is the USB cable slot for data transfer as well as to connect the adapter for charging. On the right hand side, we have a hot-swap slot for a miniSD card and the headphones / antenna slot. That’s right; this phone comes with an antenna!

The front of the device has quite a few buttons. There is your call answer and end keys, a 5 way navigation pad that could be used for controlling volume or skipping tracks or videos. There’s also a dedicated Windows key for opening the "Start" menu. Aside from that there are 2 other keys that can be used to associate with anything you need quick access to.

On the rear you’ll find the 2.0 megapixel camera with a flash and speaker phone, which proves to be quite clear if you’re having a conversation, but not too loud if you’re trying to watch TV or listen to music.
